Mac Mail App Gmail Drafts
Hi, I found this issue or maybe I have the wrong setting:
- Oct 24, 2011 You will notice that the draft area in Apple’s Mail application is located in the left hand column which contains areas such as your Inbox, Sent, Trash, and any other custom folders you have created. An example of this is shown in the image below.
- Use Mailbox Behaviors preferences in Mail to change where draft, sent, junk, deleted, and archived messages for an email account are stored. To change these preferences in the Mail app on your Mac, choose Mail Preferences, click Accounts, then click Mailbox Behaviors. Note: Mail stores messages in the mailbox you specify for each option.

- Jan 06, 2011 Apple Mail IMAP draft messages. Fortunately there is one clever workaround. Stop using IMAP for your drafts. If you set Apple Mail to save your drafts locally, they don't proliferate. There is a significant disadvantage. Any drafts which you have locally will not be available on your other computers.
- I saved an email to drafts on my gmail account last night from the mail app on my iPhone 8+ and this morning when I checked the drafts folder to complete and send it, the email wasn't in my Drafts folder. I did not inadvertently delete it and I'm 100% certain that it was saved last night.
Dec 05, 2011 Update 5, December 2011: This appears to work for Apple Mail 5 under Lion / OSX 10.7 as well. Update 4: Step 1.1 is no longer necessary, due to updates in gmail. Update 3: Sounds like iOS4 addresses some of this with an archive/delete toggle for gmail, as pointed out in the comments. - Wrote an email with google mail on my pc and saved it in draft folder.
- I opened the mail with Mailbox on my iPhone (7 plus with latest ios available today) and I modified the text.
- Save draft? Yes.
- Email disappeared from Draft folder (both Mailbox app draft folder and google mail draft folder).
- It is available only if I hold the button to write a new email.
- I send it. Never arrived. Email disappeared (no trace of it on the sent mails folder or draft folder)
Any suggestions?

Use Mailbox Behaviors preferences in Mail to change where draft, sent, junk, deleted, and archived messages for an email account are stored.
To change these preferences in the Mail app on your Mac, choose Mail > Preferences, click Accounts, then click Mailbox Behaviors.
Note: Mail stores messages in the mailbox you specify for each option.
If you select a mailbox on the mail server, the messages are available when you use your email account on another computer. Mail selects the best mailbox for your account; before choosing a different server mailbox, check with your email account provider.
If you select an On My Mac mailbox, the messages are stored on your Mac and are available only there.

Erase deleted messages | Mail erases deleted messages at the specified time. Select a setting other than Never to avoid exceeding storage limits set by your email account provider. If you selected None for Trash Mailbox, you can have Mail permanently delete messages automatically. If your email account provider sets up the server to delete older messages, the messages are deleted regardless of how you change this option. |
Archive Mailbox | Select a mailbox on the mail server to store archived messages. |
If you use an Exchange account, you can choose to store draft, sent, junk, and deleted messages on the server, and when to erase junk and deleted messages.
